When my wife and I vacationed to Kansas City last summer to visit my brother Ryan, sis Lauren and their daughter, we visited the museums. Adorning the grounds of this KC art museum are three of Claes Oldenberg's shuttlecock sculptures. These sculptures transform what we think about common objects, and give them a beauty that may not have been seen before by increasing the size. Oldenberg has many sculptures that transform common objects like hand saws, food, silverware, toothpaste bottles, and so on in to [much] 'larger than life' sculptural forms.
